Coach - Jay Smith

So why do I coach?

I've grown up all my life with football, remembering watching the 'Italia world Cup 90' on a black and white TV in my bedroom.

At the age of 8 I started playing football in the Boys Brigade, eventually playing for a team in the village I grew up in. There I played into my teens, going on to playing open age, where I played for many local teams around Halifax on a Saturday and Sunday.

I eventually found my feet playing as goalkeeper for OWR for many years.

Then family life came and football took a back seat, until my son started playing. Watching him every week was great and to see him and his team mates learn and progress was fantastic.

I've always wanted to get into coaching and the opportunity came this year, where I could not only watch but coach my son and his team and help them develop and build on what they have achieved over the years of been together.
